Implementing food safety standards is a challenge in Kosovo, and many companies require technical support to properly implement these standards in their production.  To address this need, the USAID Agriculture Growth and Rural Opportunities (AGRO) Program organized a week of trainings April 24-28 on GLOBALG.A.P & Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards for internal inspectors and auditors.  Twenty-three new local agronomists interested in becoming food safety experts and authorized certification auditors participated in the training, conducted by a Croatian certification agency.  Upon completion of the five-day training, participants took a written exam, which will be evaluated by the Danish certification body AgroManagement.  Those who pass the exam will become officially certified GLOBALG.A.P & HACCP licensed internal inspectors/auditors, enabling them to offer internal audit services to local Kosovo producers.
