U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator Alfonso Lenhardt is on travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the Third International Conference on Financing for Development July 13-16. While in Ethiopia Lenhardt will hold a series of bilateral meetings and participate in panel discussions on food security, access to electricity, and the role of science, technology, and innovation in development.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator Alfonso Lenhardt announced the U.S. Government's plans to provide an additional $266 million to help West African countries address critical gaps caused by the Ebola outbreak at the International Ebola Recovery Conference today at the UN Headquarters in New York City. The funds will help Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea to address secondary impacts of the crisis.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Associate Administrator Eric Postel will lead a U.S. delegation at the Oslo Summit on Education for Development, July 6-7, 2015 in Oslo, Norway. Postel will speak as part of a high-level panel on the subject of "Quality and Learning." During his visit, he will also meet with government officials, heads of state, other donors and global leaders in education.

President Obama announced $2 million to expand the partnership between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through Feed the Future and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) to help Mozambique increase agricultural production, food security, and family nutrition. The investment will raise agricultural production through new science and technology and provide training for agricultural policy makers, technicians, and farmers.

Today, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan closed on its offering of a total $1.5 billion in sovereign bonds guaranteed by the United States of America. These guarantees are part of a broader U.S. commitment to support Jordanian stability, security, and economic growth. President Obama informed King Abdullah of the United States' intention to provide these guarantees during their December 5, 2014 meeting in Washington, D.C.

As USAID commemorates the conclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Pride Month 2015, we celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court decision that the love two people commit to one another, whether the same or opposite gender, should be equally recognized under law and is a civil right. I join President Obama and my colleagues across the federal government in also celebrating LGBTI diversity and inclusion in our workforce, and in the work we do with the global LGBTI community.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Associate Administrator Eric Postel will lead the U.S. delegation at the World Trade Organization's Fifth Global Review of Aid for Trade Aid Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. Postel will announce the formation of an international public-private trade alliance, designed to streamline border management in developing countries and drive economic growth.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is extraordinarily pleased to earn an A+ on the federal government's small business scorecard. Only three agencies were granted the highest grade on the FY 2014 Federal Procurement Scorecard. USAID prioritizes collaboration with small businesses to increase innovation and provide new approaches to accomplishing development objectives.

Commitment includes up to $180 million for girls education—particularly adolescent girls— in conflict-affected areas of the DRC

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced today an expanded partnership with the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) to advance girls’ education around the world. As part of that commitment, USAID and DFID announced a new partnership of up to $180 million over five years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) (£36M committed by DFID; up to $125M by USAID) that will enable girls who are not in school to access accelerated and alternative learning programs in conflict-affected areas (North and South Kivu and Katanga). This program will benefit more than 755,000 girls ages 10-18 over the next five years.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the launch of a new public-private partnership, Climate Services for Resilient Development. The partnership aims to develop new tools, services, and approaches that bridge technology and organizational gaps in order to strengthen climate resilience to populations around the world. USAID has committed $10 million towards the partnership, with the total financial and in-kind contributions at $34 million by the founding- partners institutions

Acting Assistant Administrator Fritz's visit will include meetings with civil society, international partners, local beneficiaries, as well as USAID and embassy staff.

Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development and partners from the public and private sector announced a new comprehensive online library of resources for training health workers across the globe. This is the first-ever resource that will be freely available and accessible through internet-enabled mobile devices. The online library, called ORB, has the potential to support 100,000 frontline health workers by 2017 who are delivering services to more than 10 million women and children around the world.

The United States today re-affirmed its strong commitment to the people of Jordan by signing a third sovereign loan guarantee agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.  This loan guarantee agreement is part of a broader U.S. commitment to help ensure Jordanian stability, security, and economic growth.

In an effort to continue essential support for millions of the world's most food insecure people, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) delivered another 47,500 metric tons of sorghum to Sudan. This food, supplied through USAID's Office of Food for Peace, will support the UN World Food Program's (WFP) efforts to feed millions of Sudanese children and displaced persons suffering from hunger and malnutrition.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced an additional $9 million in assistance dedicated to earthquake response and recovery efforts.  The announcement brings the total amount of U.S. humanitarian assistance for the disaster to nearly $47 million, including: $32.5 million in funding from USAID and $14.3 million from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The United States today reaffirmed its strong commitment to the people of Ukraine by signing a $1 billion sovereign loan guarantee agreement with the Government of Ukraine. The guarantee will help the Government of Ukraine continue to institute reforms that tackle corruption, improve the business climate, put the economy on a sustainable path to growth, and make government more responsive to the people.
