USAID Hosts Global Education Summit

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On November 2 - 4, 2015 the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) will host its 2015 Global Education Summit.  The objectives of this Summit are to review lessons learned and to apply those lessons to future programs.  The event will be attended by USAID education officers and partners as well as a number of high-level ministry of education leaders from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through its current education strategy, USAID has worked to ensure that many of the poorest and most disadvantaged children and youth in the world are gaining access to a quality education.  The Summit will highlight key accomplishments including reading programs that have reached 30 million learners, education programs in conflict and crisis environments which have created learning opportunities for 1.1 million children andyouth, and workforce development programs that have employed hundreds of thousands of youth in more than 20 countries.
