USAID Administrator Travels to Sweden to Strengthen U.S.-Sweden Development Partnership

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah will travel to Sweden on October 22-23 to continue to build the U.S.-Sweden overall development partnership. During his visit, Dr. Shah will hold meetings to discuss how the two nations can work more closely to advance solutions in science, technology, and innovation to solve some of the world’s greatest development challenges. The Administrator will also co-chair the Task Force Meeting on Mobilizing Institutional Investment for African Infrastructure with Charlotte Petri Gornitka, Director General of the Swedish International Development Cooperation, or SIDA. The Task Force meeting will focus on generating future investments to provide long-term finance for African infrastructure. Dr. Shah will also attend bilateral meetings with Development Minister Isabella Lövin and Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson to discuss mobilizing investments in Africa and the international response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
