WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah will visit Haiti December 14 - 15.

While in Haiti, Shah will visit USAID projects prior to the five-year anniversary of the January 2010 earthquake that devastated much of the country.

Today, Haiti has transitioned from needing immediate disaster assistance to a period of long-term development. Despite enormous challenges, with the help of the United States and other international leaders, Haiti has made significant advances over the past five years in food security, health, and economic development. During the trip, Administrator Shah will observe how U.S. assistance is having a measurable impact in Haiti's transition, and reaffirm the United States' commitment of long-term support for the people of Haiti.
