Kosovo Albanian and Kosovo Serb school kids from three different communities are Advancing Kosovo Together through a shared appreciation for artistic expression. Some 33 school children, from Mogila/Mogille (Klokot/Kllokot) and Pones/Ponesh (Gjilan/Gnjilane) and their teachers enjoyed a visual arts performance and then were helped by a local non-governmental organization to decorate the entrance walls at both primary schools. Together, children and teachers enthusiastically transformed their school entrance walls into colorful and beautiful graffiti paintings. Artistic performances and activities like this one aim to strengthen inter-ethnic relations and transcend cultural differences among children and communities through the beautification of public spaces.
USAID Advancing Kosovo Together supports constructive, inter-ethnic cooperation and interaction between majority and minority communities which is vital to the security and stability of the region. The program takes a holistic approach towards the integration of minority populations into Kosovo’s institutions and society by partnering with municipalities and other Government partners to support the engagement of targeted communities. The activity works in 16 Kosovo municipalities.
