Four grant agreements signed in last three months between USAID EMPOWER Private Sector, in partnership with Swedish Agency for International Development (SIDA) and four businesses, are expected to create new employment opportunities, many of which will be filled by women and youth. USAID is complementing companies’ own investment in expanding production facilities, upgrading technologies, and installing new production lines.

The recent grant beneficiaries are Jaha Foods, a fruits and vegetable processor based in Podujevë/o, Jaha Energy, a solar panel producer based in Fushë Kosovë, Baruti, a call center based in Pristina, and Roni Fer, the main Kosovo producer of cold drawn wire and cold rolled narrow strips used in construction.

USAID EMPOWER Private Sector support contributes to meeting the increasing domestic market demand for grantees’ products, while also substituting imported goods with those produced locally.
