The U.S. Agency for International Development Mission in Kosovo is launching a new program to address the business environment in Kosovo. Partnerships for Development is a four-year activity that aims to enhance the enabling environment for Kosovo’s private sector to expand employment opportunities for the country’s citizens. The program works in partnership with the government and other partners to support Kosovo’s vision for economic growth by strengthening its institutions.

The Partnerships for Development program builds on the achievements made by USAID’s previous Business Enabling Environment project by supporting the following three activity components:

  • Improved Business Environment: Support improved policy coordination, public-private dialogue, “Doing Business” coordination and reforms, drafting processes, and permissive system;
  • Improved Implementation of Construction Reforms: Support implementation, construction, and spatial planning reforms and legalization activities;
  • Enhanced Macro-Economic Stability and Public Financial Management at the Central and Local Levels: Support strengthened macro-economic policy, taxation, budgeting, and public-private partnership support.

Partnership for Development will be implemented by Chemonics Inc.

USAID, an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State, has provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for over 50 years.
