The goal of Engagement for Equity (E4E) is to support vulnerable and marginalized groups, and to strengthen civil society’s role in influencing the development and effective implementation of policies affecting these communities. Through the provision of sub-grants and targeted technical assistance, the program supports local civil society organizations working on behalf of vulnerable and marginalized communities to:

  • Conduct complex advocacy and awareness campaigns in cooperation with stakeholders from diverse segments of society and government
  • Engage in drafting policy recommendations on democracy, governance, and economic empowerment issues, drawn from consultations with members of vulnerable populations, a wider base of citizens, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor and track the implementation of targeted legislation, reforms, and initiatives of high importance to vulnerable and marginalized groups

Engagement for Equity focuses its support on:

  • Strengthening women in governance and economy
  • Empowering women through enhanced awareness of women’s property rights
  • Increasing protection and awareness of LGBT community rights
  • Expanding participation of people with disabilities (PwD).
  • Expanding youth participation/ Expand Youth Participation to counter violent extremism

Results to date:

  • 50 grants issued to local organizations to expand activities and create new avenues for marginalized groups such as Kosovo’s minorities, persons with disabilities, women, LGBT, and at-risk youth to engage with and participate in Kosovo’s institutions and society.
  • Provision of technical and organizational development assistance that includes in-house trainings and tailored capacity building services for each individual CSO, as well as special provisions for CSOs dealing with LGBT rights.
  • Engagement for Equity strengthened the capacities of all grantees in fields of Finance Management, Advocacy and Coalition Building, Project Cycle Management and Human Resource Management
