WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Acting Administrator Alfonso Lenhardt will travel to Nepal today to assess the damage caused by the April 25 earthquake and to demonstrate USAID's continued support to the people of Nepal. USAID's Assistant Administrator for Asia Jonathan Stivers will accompany him.
Acting Administrator Lenhardt will meet with Government of Nepal officials, USAID partners, and the 134 members of the USAID Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), which was deployed to Nepal hours after the earthquake hit. He will also conduct an aerial survey and help to distribute relief supplies in some of the worst affected areas.
