WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Asia Jonathan Stivers will travel to Burma and Vietnam to meet with government officials, a wide range of civil society organizations, and business leaders in both countries.
In Burma, Stivers will meet with representatives of different segments of civil society, government officials, and USAID/Burma staff and implementing partners.
In Vietnam, he will focus on a series of events on inclusive economic growth, science and technology, food security, climate change, and civil society capacity building. Stivers will provide opening remarks at an event with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industries, attend several meetings with the American Chamber of Commerce Vietnam, and meet with civil society organizations on building local capacity. He will also make several site visits to provincial agricultural projects.
Throughout the trip, USAID will reaffirm our ongoing commitment to the Asia Rebalance and to fostering lasting progress across East Asia and the Pacific by strengthening our relationships with the governments and people of Asia to meet 21st century challenges.
