WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Rajiv Shah will visit Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco January 6 - 13. While in Nevada and California, Dr. Shah will participate in the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 6. He will continue on to California where he will meet with technology leaders and other innovators to discuss the use of science, technology, innovation, and partnerships to further USAID's development objectives around the world. Through the U.S. Global Development Lab and its Cornerstone Partners, USAID seeks to foster science-and-technology based solutions and a global marketplace of innovations to help end extreme poverty by 2030. Recent innovations and partnerships championed by USAID are helping to fight the Ebola epidemic in West Africa; ending preventable child and maternal deaths; alleviating hunger and malnutrition; and bringing access to cleaner, more renewable sources of energy to millions.
