For Immediate Release
TIRANA, MARCH 12, 2013 With the support of USAID, through the Albanian Justice Sector Strengthening Project (JuST), and in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania (AmCham), the Law Faculty of the University of Tirana organized today the first “Career Day” for its students. The Dean of the Faculty, Altin Shegani, the USAID/Albania Mission Director, Jim Barnhart, and AmCham Albania Executive Director, Floreta Luli-Faber were on hand for the ceremonial opening.
The event targeted the Faculty’s soon-to-be graduates of its Master’s program who met with representatives of businesses interested in hiring law students, such as law firms, banks, mobile telephone operators, insurance companies, as well as from headhunting companies, educational agencies, and international organizations
The legal profession is one of Albania’s most highly competitive professional field — a field which is also of critical importance to Albania’s progress towards EU integration. Albania’s justice sector and the rule of law are priorities of U.S. government assistance to Albania, and strengthening the Albanian legal profession and legal education is one of the main objectives of the USAID’s JuST project. For the past three years, USAID has worked with the University of Tirana’s Law Faculty to establish a clinical legal education program that will provide its law students the requisite skills to practice law in Albania.
