We had the opportunity and the pleasure to be one of the USAID Advancing Kosovo Together (AKT) program partners. Through several workshops organized by USAID we selected this project as one of the priorities to be implemented at that point in time.
Before the installation of public lights, Gračanica/Graçanicë was almost fully in dark. In the past, we had some old lighting technology, which often did not even work.
What I consider is the most positive thing in all this is the fact that this project did not end as just another strategy in some bureaucrat’s desk, but in fact it is being implemented sooner than it was even initially planned through Service Improvement Action Plan (SIAP).
Through the installation of public lighting, Gračanica/Graçanicë not only looks better, but citizens now feel safe, especially small children from heavy traffic.
Currently, energy efficiency projects are quite trendy, and as a result of global warming there are numerous projects of this nature being implemented all over the world. As a result, Gračanica/Graçanicë municipality wanted to be part of this and one of the reasons why we selected this project through SIAP in particular is the fact that after the implementation of this strategy, we will have 50% less consumption of electric energy for public lighting.
This public lightning project has literally brought a new day to Gračanica/Graçanicë.
Within the framework of digitization of systems and citizen services projects, together with the USAID Advancing Kosovo Together (AKT) program, we jointly implemented the e-kiosk project. The project was a very successful one within the framework of services because citizens can now access services directly through e-kiosk without going to the civil administration offices.
We used to get them here, inside. We had to make a payment of 1 euro, make copies, and join the queue over there to make another payment. We’d waste one or two hours.
Services are available in three languages and this has really made it easier for all communities to access services in their own languages.
Instead of waiting two hours there, you get it here in one minute. Here you go!
