Alternative Licit Livelihoods Initiative (ALLI) (formerly Agro-enterprise Development Alliance)

This project provides training, agricultural inputs, and other related services to small-scale farmers, traders, and processors in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, as well as medium-income farmers, traders, and stakeholders, who represent the catalysts for effective marketing and pioneering technological innovations. The project has four key activities: a) the development of sustainable agricultural livelihoods for rural and peri-urban households; b) market development; c) watershed restoration project in Ghor Province; and d) water-related hygiene and sanitation in Ghor Province. The livelihoods component focuses on the provision of technical assistance to establish sustainable agricultural production in tandem with the development of agro-enterprises. Located in central and western provinces of Afghanistan, select products with high value-added potential and market demand are produced, processed, and traded.
