STAY+ is designed to offer a comprehensive program of basic education, life skills, and workforce readiness for 15-24 year olds in the five districts of the south and east regions. The project is also building government capacity and integrating youth workforce programs among a cross-sector of ministries. Additionally, it is developing two flagship vocational training organizations, Afghanistan Vocational Training Institute (ATVI) and Kunar Vocational Organization (KVO). ATVI, a premier coeducational school with campuses in Kabul and Laghman provinces, provides a two-year postsecondary program in five key fields: business, information and communications technology, agriculture, construction, and automotive mechanics. In Kunar Province, the Provincial Reconstruction Team initiated KVO is building a local workforce for construction trades. These two schools reflect Ministry of Education and USAID collaboration to develop innovative and effective models for institutional capacity building and best practices.
