The goal of USAID’s integrated health, population and nutrition program is to promote equitable improvements in the health status of Ghanaians by achieving the following results: increased access to integrated health services; increased availability of community-based health resources; strengthened and responsive health systems; and improved health sector governance and accountability.
The goal of USAID’s education program is to increase the number of Ghanaian children who are able to read with fluency and comprehension in the early grades of primary school.
USAID/Ghana’s Democracy, Rights, and Governance Program works to increase government accountability and transparency and reduce corruption. All activities support the inclusion of women, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups in political processes.
As Ghana approaches the December 7, 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, USAID is providing more than $6.7 million in non-partisan technical assistance to civil society groups, governmental and non-governmental institutions, and independent constitutional bodies including the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), to increase electoral accountability and to facilitate free, fair, peaceful, and inclusive elections.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) partners with universities throughout the world. In addition to partnering with Ghanaian universities, USAID partners with a range of top U.S. universities to build local capacity, and to research solutions to development challenges in Ghana.
