The Senior Education Specialist serves as a recognized expert in education and advisor to the Mission, Government of Egypt, and the Embassy on all aspects of the Mission’s basic and secondary education program in Egypt. The Job Holder participates in and supports the management and coordination of programs/projects/activities within the USAID Education program; represents USAID in working-level meetings, and, at that level speaks and/or makes presentations on behalf of the Agency and the USG.
Several students were recognized for excellence today during the award ceremony for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Cairo. The award ceremony caps off a three-day event sponsored by Intel and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in conjunction with Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“Science and technology play a critical role in spurring innovation and increasing economic growth,” said USAID Mission Director Sherry F. Carlin. “The U.S. government is proud to support this competition and hopes that the students here today will design solutions to Egypt’s greatest development challenges.”
The Secretary On Call serves as a roving USAID/Egypt Secretary and performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties, on a rotational basis, throughout USAId/Egypt in support of various USAID program activities. The application deadline is March 16, 2017 by 4:30pm.
Sohag – Hundreds of entrepreneurs gathered today in Sohag to participate in a summit hosted by Markade LLC, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Through workshops, panel discussions, and success stories from the local community, the event raised awareness on entrepreneurship and built the capacity of Sohag’s youth to be successful entrepreneurs.
“USAID believes in the power of entrepreneurship to drive economic growth and create jobs,” said Jacinto Fabiosa from USAID. “We’ve watched thousands of aspiring Egyptian entrepreneurs turn their ideas into action and look forward to assisting thousands more.”
Alexandria – Joining officials from the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MoETE), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting a conference today that will bring leaders of Egyptian business and technical schools into dialogue with private sector employees to discuss how best to prepare graduating students for the workplace. Contributing to USAID’s ongoing Workforce Improvement and Skills Enhancement (WISE) project in Egypt, the “Transition to Employment” conference will also address turnover in the private sector, on-the-job training, and recruitment issues.
“In collaboration with the Ministry, USAID initiated a public-private partnership program that links the private sector with skilled graduates of public technical schools,” said USAID Mission Director Sherry F. Carlin. “Through this strong and effective partnership, the project has trained 1,800 technical school teachers on programs that lead to jobs for Egyptian youth.”
