Reducing rising rates of HIV transmission among Asian gay men through the innovative use of digital communications is the focus of a special event which opened today in Bangkok. Connecting Asia is a three-day regional consultation – the first event of its kind in Asia – that will help over 150 HIV and community health workers from 22 countries across the region improve how they use information and communication technologies (ICT) to get gay men and men who have sex with men (MSM) to connect with HIV prevention, testing and treatment.

The USAID Oceans and Fisheries Partnership (USAID Oceans) and the International Pole & Line Foundation (IPNLF) have embarked on a new collaboration to implement a catch documentation and traceability (CDT) system in Indonesia to support sustainable fisheries management and supply chain integrity.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a global safety science company, has launched the third annual ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women.

USAID/Senegal is working with the Government of Senegal, teachers, parents, students and businesses to ensure all Senegalese children receive 10 years of quality education, especially girls and vulnerable children. This includes building schools, supporting teacher training, increasing supplies of books and access to the Internet, and increasing enrolment and opportunities for out-of-school young people in conflict environments in the south.

Today, the United States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) announced the final stage in the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) World of Food Innovation Challenge (link is external), undertaken in partnership with private-sector equipment and software companies: Cisco, Intel, National Instruments, as well as IC², the interdisciplinary research unit for the University of Texas at Austin.
